The Children's Campus is participating with the Indiana Association of Juvenile
Sexual Offender Practitioners (INAJSOP) in their commitment to continue professional and clinical applications of Best Practice Standards within the state of Indiana. As a result, our clinicians, direct care staff, unit directors and case managers are certified in clinical and programmatic modalities. Best practice simply put means that a particular method of treatment delivery has proven to yield a successful outcome over time and across multiple programmatic replications. This is one way TCC continues to provide therapeutic services that ensure quality and are backed by current industry/clinically proven standards of care.
S.T.A.R.T.
Sexually Traumatized Adolescents in Residential Treatment
The S.T.A.R.T. Program is designed for adolescent males ages 13 to 18 that have engaged in sexually maladaptive and abusive behaviors and are at a high risk of re-offending. Operating with the core belief that early intervention yields the greatest results, resident belief systems are challenged early in the process to reduce the chances of their becoming ingrained.
While maintaining a supportive milieu, staff sets about on a course to both understand and pierce the veil of cognitive distortions and rationalizations that are used by our residents to support and excuse their behavior. Residents work closely with the Treatment Team to recognize personal behavior patterns that lead to re-offending and insights gained are used to develop individual intervention strategies.
T.R.A.C.
Treating Reactive Aggressive Children
Poor impulse control, intense rage, destruction of property, poor boundaries, inappropriate sexual conduct; these are all phrases that have been used to describe the behavior of the residents on our T.R.A.C. Unit. Designed for boys, ages 6 to 12, the T.R.A.C. Unit specializes in treating the sexually abused youngster who has begun to exhibit highly sexualized behaviors with other children.
Understanding that children this age are reenacting their own victimization, the staff on T.R.A.C. takes great care in creating a structured and safe environment in which behavior is shaped through practice, feedback, and reinforcement. Residents participate in a variety of treatment settings that build self-esteem, reduce aggression, and assist them in developing relationships without sexual overtones.
