Staff Secure Residential
Building a solid foundation of self-worth while breaking destructive behavior patterns, the milieu in our staff secure programs is designed to be encouraging, supportive, and provide real life metaphors of personal and family responsibilities.
Sunnyview
Adolescent females
ages 12-18
Sunnyview residents have a history of high-risk behaviors such as runaway, self-harm, and sexual promiscuity. Clouded judgment coupled with limited internal controls has resulted in multiple poor decisions and have created a life that is completely out of control.
The milieu on Sunnyview is designed to assist these young ladies in their struggle to find their identity. Capitalizing on their need for acceptance, the staff on Sunnyview is trained to use positive peer pressure and group support as catalysts to set these young ladies on the road to reaching their full potential.
Gemini
Adolescent females
ages 14-18
The Gemini Unit, part of our existing Sunnyview Unit, is a staff secure unit that utilizes Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). DBT is a comprehensive treatment approach that is a blend of psychotherapy and psychosocial skills training.
The Gemini unit will treat young ladies ages 14-18 who fit the diagnostic criteria of Borderline Personality traits or who could otherwise benefit from the skills training offered, including self-harmers, those with impulsive behaviors and substance abusers.
New Beginnings
Adolescent males
ages 12-18
New Beginnings residents have a history of high-risk behaviors. Frequently driven by a sense of hopelessness, these residents vacillate between defiance of authority and complete withdrawal from friends and family. Poor impulse control and impaired judgment have been key contributing factors to their loss of control.
The milieu on New Beginnings is designed to assist these residents in their effort to piece their lives together. By creating situations that mimic real life, these residents develop social skills, increase their appreciation for the rights of others, as well as learn to manage themselves through internal controls.
King
Adolescent males
ages 13-18

King Hall is a highly structured, intensive substance abuse treatment program with therapeutic milieus designed to focus on behaviors that have attributed to a high level of socially unacceptable activity and/or other high risk behavior. Additional group work is done that focuses on promoting accountability and responsibility for ones actions and adopting a drugs free lifestyle. Individual, family and group therapy is an integral part of the program. Substance Abuse assessment, treatment and aftercare are provided. The family system is examined to determine support/roadblocks, strengths/weaknesses to maintaining the recovery process. 12 step groups will be made available on campus and in the community based on risk assessment. Full day of school is provided.
ages 6-12
For many children entering our Kidco Program the world is a chaotic and unsafe place. Violated trust and repeated failed promises have left them with the belief that adults are threatening and harmful. With that in mind the primary goals of our program are restoring trust and assisting these youngsters in reclaiming their childhood. Our milieu is a model of consistency and trustworthiness in which encouragement replaces condemnation, harmony replaces chaos, and clearly defined expectations replace unpredictability.
Kidco provides a safe and compassionate environment in which to resolve issues of attachment, hyperactivity, aggressiveness, self-destructive behaviors, depression, trauma, and abuse. The positive peer influence of small groups in conjunction with the rewarding of positive behavior aids in the development of social and communication skills and the enhancement of self-esteem.
Creekside
Males
ages 13-18
IQ between 50 and 70
Using inherent strengths as building blocks for future success is the perfect descriptor of our Creekside Program. Creekside residents have cognitive challenges coupled with emotional and behavioral issues that have left them with decreased coping skills, impaired ability to read social cues, and difficulty making and maintaining relationships.
Knowing that rewarding small successful steps leads to more success, our staff serve as teachers- providing step by step instructions, role models- demonstrating the expected behavior, and coaches- offering encouragement. This three-pronged approach leads to improved quality of life and aids our residents in reaching their fullest potential.
S.T.A.R.T. Sexually Traumatized Adolescents in Residential Treatment
Adolescent males
ages 13 to 18
The S.T.A.R.T. Program is designed for males that have engaged in sexually maladaptive and abusive behaviors and are at a high risk of re-offending. Operating with the core belief that early intervention yields the greatest results, resident belief systems are challenged early in the process to reduce the chances of their becoming ingrained.
While maintaining a supportive milieu, staff sets about on a course to both understand and pierce the veil of cognitive distortions and rationalizations that are used by our residents to support and excuse their behavior. Residents work closely with the Treatment Team to recognize personal behavior patterns that lead to re-offending and insights gained are used to develop individual intervention strategies.
T.R.A.C. Treating Reactive Aggressive Children
Boys
ages 6-12
Poor impulse control, intense rage, destruction of property, poor boundaries, inappropriate sexual conduct; these are all phrases that have been used to describe the behavior of the residents on our T.R.A.C. Unit. The T.R.A.C. Unit specializes in treating the sexually abused youngster who has begun to exhibit highly sexualized behaviors with other children.
Understanding that children this age are reenacting their own victimization, the staff on T.R.A.C. takes great care in creating a structured and safe environment in which behavior is shaped through practice, feedback, and reinforcement. Residents participate in a variety of treatment settings that build self-esteem, reduce aggression, and assist them in developing relationships without sexual overtones.
