Comprehensive Social Disorder Assessment Unit
Isolated. Sensitive. Obsessive. Many children are unsure or don't know how to properly deal with social interactions. They may struggle socially for a number of reasons including: a social development disorder such as Autism or Asperger's; they may suffer from emotional or behavioral disorders that serve as a barrier to social mastery; or there may be challenges in cognitive functioning or learning.
Look our for these signs or symptoms which may suggest the child has a social disorder:
* Does not seem to pick up on social cues
* Emotions and behaviors do not fit the social situations
* Challenges with social skills
* Seems to struggle with empathy or understanding others emotions
* Does not engage in creative or imaginative thinking
* Has difficulty with transitions and changes
* Seems to be obsessed with certain objects or topics
* Motor clumsiness
* Sensitivities to certain sounds, textures or sights
* Tends to interpret everything literally
The new Comprehensive Social Disorder Diagnostic Services program at The Children's Campus looks at children and adolescents, ages 10-18 years old, who are presenting with challenging emotional and behavioral issues.
